Richard J. Rolfes, Jr. (Dick), age 91, passed away on August 24, 2022.
He was born to Richard and Florence Rolfes in his grandmother’s home in
Cold Spring, Kentucky in 1931. He raised his children and started his
business, Camco Chemical, in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. He loved watching
his family grow on his farm in Crittenden, Kentucky and later retired to
Naples, Florida where he welcomed his family and friends on countless
visits and vacations.
Dick graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1949.
There, he made life-long friends. He worked alongside his father in their
service station in Ft. Thomas before enlisting in the Air Force during the
Korean War. Shortly thereafter, he was honorably discharged to care for
his family after his father died at just 45 years of age. It was then that Dick
began his chemical company in the back of his dad’s service station. His
company, Camco, now in its third generation of family operation, has
become a living legacy of both his success in business and his dedication
to family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jack Rolfes, Ted Rolfes and Jim (Pauline) Rolfes. He is survived by his sister, Rosemary
(Norbert) Wormald, and his children, Mary Lynn Cropper, Annette (Daniel)
Theissen and Richard (Drucilla) Rolfes and stepchildren Summer Lawarre
and Josh Lawarre. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 20
great-grandchildren who gave him the greatest joy.
