Richard D Romeo, 77 of New Kensington passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 in Naples Community Hospital, Naples, FL. Richard was born on June 23, 1946 in Pittsburgh to the late Elenora Toscano Romeo and Valentino Romeo. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1964 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Richard taught Spanish in the Kiski Area school district for 30+ years. After retiring from Kiski, he continued to mentor teens through the PAA and Adelphoi Village programs. He loved sports, playing tennis and golf and watching the Steelers, Penguins, and Pitt and Penn State teams. He also loved to travel with his wife, Francine, to Europe and Asia as well as their annual trip to Ocean City, MD with family and friends. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years Francine Romeo, son Richard P (Kelly Lyn) Romeo of Las Vegas, NV, brother Gary (Betsy) Romeo of New Kensington, sisters-in-law Janet Romeo of Lower Burrell and Susan Phillip of Oakmont, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws, and brother Raymond who passed away November 21, 2023. A celebration of life will be held in Naples, FL on January 20 and in New Kensington at a date to be announced later at the convenience of the family. The Romeo family will be having a memorial service Saturday, January 20, 2023, 10:00am to 12:00pm at Naples Funeral Home 3107 Davis Blvd., Naples, FL 34104.

Rich was more than a colleague, he was a mentor and a friend. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share. He inspired me and many others to make a positive impact in our work and our community.
