OBITUARY – Mary Lynda Beazley (McKay), Lynnie to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2020 in Naples, Florida at age 66. Born on March 2, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Mary Lou Rayburn and William (Bud) McKay, the third of four children.

Lynda completed her undergraduate degree in English at the University of Washington and a graduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University in Marriage Counseling and Family Therapy. She worked in advertising for forty years retiring in 2008 as Director of Manufacturing for MNI-Time Ink.

Lynda had a great love for the outdoors. As a teenager, she often spent her summers in the Tetons, participating in adventure programs such as Outward Bound. These experiences greatly influenced her life, strengthening her self-confidence and love of nature. Additionally, Lynda loved physical activity and could often be found swimming, running, or playing competitive tennis.

Out of her love of the outdoors, Lynda developed an incredible skill designing, planting, and nurturing gardens. Her gardens were simply beautiful, bringing serenity to anyone who wandered through.

Lynda’s creativity was boundless, permeating all areas of her life. She was a talented artist, crafting beautiful ceramics, stained glass windows, acrylic paintings, and collages. She was also a gifted writer, keeping prolific journals for most of her life, as well as an avid and discerning reader.

Lynda met the love of her life, Richard (Rich) Beazley, and married him in 1989, beginning a beautiful relationship that lasted 31 years. Together they enjoyed indulging in their love of the outdoors, travelling, and embarking on new adventures. Above all, they loved spending time with their children and family. Lynda will always be remembered for her free venturous spirit, her compassion, and her engaging stories. She was faithful to the old adage, “To thine own self be true.”

Lynda is survived by her husband, Rich; her stepsons, Jared (Amy) and Ian (Carla); and her three grandchildren. Her greatest joy was the deep mutual affection and fondness she had for her three beloved grandchildren: Jake, Justin, and Luke. She is also survived by her stepmother, Cathy McKay; her sister, Leslie McKay; her nieces, Molly, Sarah and Maggie; and her nephew Bud Jr. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Rayburn Lloyd (Scott) McKay and William C. (Bill) McKay.

Dear Rich,
I just heard last night. I am soooo sorry. My heart is broken that Lynda is gone and that your soul mate has passed. You two were such an inspiration as a couple. I could write a book about all the times I had with Lynda (and you would have some chapters too). I know it’s been a while, I have thought of you two often…..if you ever need to talk, give me a call.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Stay strong, Love, Pegi
