Mrs. Jean Pearce Ankner
November 28, 1949 – May 2, 2020
Jean “Bean” Pearce Ankner, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully at home with her family on May 2, 2020.
Jean was born in Philadelphia on November 28,1949. The middle of seven children, she had a sense of adventure from a young age. While her spunk may have occasionally gotten her into trouble with her parents as a young adult, it also filled her life with adventures and stories that brought smiles and laughter to all who heard them.
She is now home with her parents, Harry and Dolores Pearce; together with her sister, Dee Domenick, and brother, Joe Pearce. Left to cherish her memory are her children Matthew (Jess) Scanlon and Lauren (Mark) Elwell; husband, Raymond Ankner; grandchildren, Patrick, Sammy, Emma, Robbie, Charlotte, Beaven, and Emma (and another precious gift on the way); siblings, Harry (Rosemary) Pearce, Ed (Betty) Pearce, John (Beth) Pearce, and Helene “String” (Jim) Moran; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; her special caretakers, Richard and Illane; and her loyal companion and protector, Penny.
Jean was passionate and tenacious in all aspects of her life. She graduated cum laude from Villanova University with a degree in accounting while working during the day and attending school in the evening. She went on to build a successful real estate business while raising her two children.
Jean brought beauty and color to the world in so many ways; through her hobbies—painting, gardening, and decorating, and through her unwavering generosity. Jean had a big heart and was always taking care of and spoiling the special people in her life.
Services for Jean will be held on August 11 at 11 AM at St. Ann’s in Naples. There will be a celebration of her life following the service. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause dear to Jean’s heart.

We miss you Mom! Still trying to digest this but we know you are at peace right now. Will continue to look up to you whenever I need guidance as I always have. I promise that I will always look after Lauren. I love you and I am blessed to have you as a mother.

A friend like Jean is not easily forgotten. We were friends for over 50 years and together shared all stages of our lives together. There are so many things I will miss about Jean, most of all her laugh that came with such ease and naturalness; we laughed through our 20’s in a way that should be illegal. She was so loyal as a friend, I never had to worry about saying anything to Jean…she would never judge a friend. I loved her, especially the way she supported all in her life with gusto and cheer. She gave good advice, but never held anything against you if you didn’t follow through. She became more beautiful inside and outside with age and defied age with a spirit and enthusiasm that no one will ever replace for me. I think and pray for you Lauren and Matt daily; along with Ray; as well as the loyal and beautiful family she has left behind. Much love, Babs

I did not know Jean for as long as my wife Barbara,but for the times I was in her company I enjoyed her quick wit, verve, and overall sense of kindness and decency. I also remember her dazzling smile, frequently given because she enjoyed life and the people around her. “unique” hardly describes her, yet is an apt adjective for her. Sometimes it’s hard not to wish for one more day, one more word, or one more chance to say goodbye, but you can know in your heart that you, your brother and all the grandkids were such a joy for your mom. I can see so much of your mom in you and I can see her goodness will live on through you and your family. It was such an honor for us to know Jean. She will be truly missed.

Lauren, Mark and Ray … Rich and I are saddened by this news but know she is now at peace. What a warrior she was. I also lost a very close friend this week who fought the same battle. We are sorry for your loss my God be with you all as you grieve. I am so happy I knew a Jean and have found memories of her spunky attitude. She found the right words always. Hugs, hope and healing.

I can honestly say working for Jean at Orange Cryo didn’t seem like a job. She worked with me, and was a kind soul. She was very passionate in helping others as much as she could. She will be missed, and I know she’s watching over her family and friends! She will never be forgotten. Condolences to the family.
