Mrs. Janet Atwood Pitcher
August 20, 1930 – May 8, 2021
Janet Atwood Pitcher passed away May 8, 2021 at home in the loving care of her daughters. She was the only child of Arthur Atwood and Florence (Hingston) Atwood, born August 20, 1930 in Bangor, Maine. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Lester.
She graduated from Peabody, High School, and went to work as a teller at the Peabody Co-Operative Saving Bank. After marring in October 1952, she started her family and moved to Framingham and Sudbury Ma, where she raised her 4 children.
She was a passionate knitter, creating sweaters for her children and grandchildren that continue to be passed down to the new generations.
She spent summer at her cottage on Rangeley lake in Maine, enjoying the water and beauty with her husband and family. When her children were grown, she returned to work at Digital Corporation, where she retired in 1994.
She and Lester spend time traveling the world and time in Rangeley making memories, ultimately moving to Naples in 1999, where she enjoyed golf, friends dancing and being with her husband.
She is survived by her children: Diane O’Brien and husband Tom, David Pitcher, Donna Duggan, Debra Dunbar and her husband Joe. She had seven grandchildren: Kaitlin O’Brien, Patrick O’Brien, Andrew Dunbar, Kathryn Dunbar, Nicholas Simmons, Christopher Simmons, Taylor Simmons. She had 3 great-grandchildren: Madelyn Simmons, Owen O’Brien, Avery Simmons.
Calling hours and memorial service will be held on Thursday May 13th from 2-4 pm at: Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Blvd., Naples, FL 34104.
