August 11, 1940 – February 19, 2021

Ronald Jones passed away on February 19, 2021, in Naples, Florida, at the age of 80 years after a battle with liver cancer.  

Ron was born to William P. and Leona (Lowns) Jones In Atlanta, Georgia,  He spent most years of his life in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1958 and attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a bachelor of architecture degree in 1964.  He worked for several architecture firms in Southern Illinois during his career, but spent most of his career working with Fields, Goldman & Magee Architects (FGM, Inc.) in Mt. Vernon and Oak Brook as a project architect/manager for numerous projects including educational, correctional, governmental, and commercial facilities.  

After retirement, he moved to Naples, Florida, where he became a daily visitor to the beaches of Old Naples.  He enjoyed reading, walking, enjoying the Florida sunshine, and spending time with his grandsons.

Ron is predeceased by his parents as well as two brothers Ralph and Jim.  Ron is survived by his two sons Mark, of Palm Bay, Florida, and Scott of Miami, Florida; two grandchildren Austin and Nathan of Miami; brother Donald of St. David, Arizona; two sisters Shirley Lockwood of Texico, Illinois, and Ruth Hobbs of Indianapolis, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He will be missed by his family, his former work colleagues in Southern Illinois, and those who got to know him on the beaches of Naples.
