Mr. Jose Antonio Cortes
October 13,1949 – August 8, 2021

Jose Antonio Cortes, age 71 of Immokalee, passed away on August 8, 2021. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on October 13, 1949 to Conrado Cortes and Celsa Montalvo.

Jose was preceded in death by his father; wife, Raquel Cortes; and his daughter, Emilia Carmona.

Jose is survived by his mother, Celsa Montalvo; daughter, Raquel Rodriguez (Richard); son, Jose (Noelia Velazquez); son-in-law, Gerard Carmona; grandchildren, Arturo Jose Rodriguez, Richard Lewis Rodriguez, Hannah Abigail Rodriguez, Jennifer Madison Rodriguez, Conrad Andrew Rodriguez, Isabella Marie Cortes, Jay Carmona, Julia Carmona, Levon Carmona, and Linzi Carmona; brothers, Wilfredo Cortes, Ary Cortes, and Conrado Cortes (Velma); the Perez Family; his best friend and honorary brother, Fidel Espada; and his beloved dog, Leal; as well as many friends and extended family members, all of whom he loved dearly.

Jose was a very hard worker, and his family was very important to him. Though he was tough, he was a loving father and he adored his grandchildren beyond measure. Jose was funny and loved to laugh and tell stories of his youth in New York and Puerto Rico. He was a beloved figure in the Immokalee community, and his family remembers with pride and gratitude the outpouring of love and support that Jose received from the community when his wife, Raquel, passed in April 2021.

Family and friends will gather at Naples Funeral Home for visitation and viewing on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
