Herb you were there for Brian and I after dad moved away. I am grateful for that. Also you touched Brian by talking about football. Even on Sabbath mornings before church. Suzanne and Tami I know what you are both going through. Remember we have the assurance that Herb is sleeping very comfortably now and we will see his smiling face again when we are joined with him at our eternal home.

Herb was the first to welcome us when we moved to the neighborhood. A truly wonderful man who always had a kind and friendly
word. never any judgement, only kindness. He lived the Golden Rule. He made us feel so welcomed.
He will be truly missed by all. Our most sincere sympathies. Please do not hesitate to call on us if you need anything.

Never met anyone who loved as he did, fearlessly and selflessly. Herb was the reason why so many people look forward to gathering at church or his home. Herb and Sue were a pair-matched-up by God to shower love on those who needed it the most. His memory will live on in our hearts for eternity. See you soon old-timer, see you soon. Love you always,
Cassi

We will miss you Herb
We will see you soon.

Jesus says in
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. King James Version

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Love

I only met Herb one time in my life, in the past month. I am a fellow Vietnam Veteran who could understand why people fell in love with Herb on the first smile. What a pleasant human being. JELLO

Suzanne and Tami, my heart breaks for you. I cannot tell you how much Herb meant to us. Even though he moved away from Grand Junction over 35 years ago, he has remained a big part of our lives. We have letters, emails, pictures and memories he shared with us through the years. In our house is a cabinet he hand-crafted and installed, pinned to our headboard is a $5 bill he sent us with his name on it. We have a “letter from God”…scriptures he sent. I am so thankful that Herb and Suzanne were able to visit and share a meal with us at Garden of Eatin’. That restaurant will always remind us of you. Herb will always hold a special spot in our hearts. Biker friends forever, Bob and Karen Jones, Grand Junction, Colorado

Suzanne and Tami, Ralph and I are saddened by Herb’s passing. He is the joy of both your lives with a boundless love for you and all us “KIDS”. For me, he is my cohort in Pathfinder campouts, church activities, flea markets, zoo life, a true friend and brother to Ralph and I and my partner in keeping “Jim” aka Ralph in line. A loving mentor to our daughters, Renee and Michelle. He gave us our history in pictures and a lifetime of laughter and beautiful memories. I will not say “goodbye” my dear friend, I will say, “See you later Herbie”for when Jesus returns it will only be the beginning of new adventures for all eternity.

Herb, you left a beautiful legacy with a lot of youth, including my 2 boys. You were an example of what taking care of others really meant.
You will be greatly missed.

On paper, Herb was our employee. In our hearts, he was a trusted friend who saw the zoo through so many changes (from Jungle Larry’s Safari to Naples Zoo) but he knew what it was like to have been there in the good ol’ days when we were all one small, happily dysfuntional family and so glad that he was. We will miss those white slip on sneakers, cutting his shirtsleeves into fringes, that hearty laugh, the tough but tender heart, the smile that told adversity to get out of town, and so many other things that made Herb an original. We will miss you, friend, see you on the other side. With warmth and affection, The Tetzlaff Family (Nancy, David, Tim)

This man will be missed greatly. He was an awesome representation of Jesus especially to the young adults. I only knew him a short 4 years about ten years ago but he was loved by many and all. He was awesome as a zoo tour guide for my students. Prayers are with the family and we pay the resurrection morning comes quickly.

Herb has been a huge inspiration in my life. I used to love hanging out at the house for the day. He would get me riding them old bicycles he had built. I remember the parade the pathfinders got to ride them in. I love that man so very much. God is good. Herb is a true blessing to me.
I love you forever!
