Katherine Judnich

October 20, 1930~June 08, 2024

Katherine Judnich, 93, died peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2024, after a short illness.

The daughter of Croatian immigrants Mary and Stephan Horvath, Katherine was born October 20, 1930
in Dearborn, MI. She attended Fordson High School and married Richard Judnich in 1949. They worked
together to build Judnich Typography into a booming business before they retired in 2002 and moved to
the Glen Eagle community in Naples, FL. Richard preceded her in death in 2014 after 65 years of
marriage.

The couple had six children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

“Katie” as she was known to friends, enjoyed meeting people and was a friend to all. She accepted
everyone no matter their fault, and was eager to make people feel welcome whether it was in her house
or at church. Always showing a warm smile and a sharp sense of humor, she enjoyed spending time with
her expanding family.

She was active in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she was easily recognized as an official greeter at
Sunday services. She also was president of the church’s Parish Council, volunteered at the thrift shop
and started a group for widows.

She and Richard traveled widely to such places as China, the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Australia, New
Zealand, Portugal and Europe – often times cruising with family and friends. She also loved to play
rummikub with her Glen Eagle friends.

Katie is survived by a sister, Helen Laidlaw of Novi, MI; four daughters, Judy Battista of Naples, Sue
Marquardt of Naples, Karen Rasp of Lake Lure, NC, and Ellen Herndon of Baltimore, MD; two sons,
James Judnich and John Judnich of Dearborn, MI; six grandchildren, Andrew Booth of Fort Lee, NJ,
Lauren Oprisu of Aldie, VA, Rob Battista of Philadelphia, PA, Alia Herndon of Baltimore, Jess Judnich of
Dearborn, MI, and Ashley Judnich of Toledo, OH; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Oprisu of Aldie, VA,
and Jose Pablo Pineda Trejo of Ft. Lee, NJ.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donations can be made to Avow Hospice of Naples or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Naples.
