November 14, 1942 – July 21, 2023
Elizabeth Szokola, 80, of Naples, Florida passed away on 7/21/2023 after continued health issues.
Elizabeth (Liz) was born on November 14, 1942 to Maria Molnar and Istvan Szokola in Becej, Hungary. At age 4 during the war, the family escaped to Argentina. They all had to learn yet another language (had to go through different countries before finally getting on the ship to Argentina).
After arrival in Argentina, she went to school there and also met the love of her life Manuel Vidal around 1955, they were neighbors and even though they were waiting to leave to USA (final destination) where her uncle lived, her and her family had to wait for immigration which ended up taking 10 years.
She did come to USA but her heart was in Argentina, so after arriving in USA and trying to settle, she went back to Argentina and on 7/17/62 Liz wed Manuel, going on to have three children, Javier, Mauricio, and Evelyn.
When Liz had Javier, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She waited 6 years to have Mauricio and another 6 to have Evelyn, the girl she always wanted. She was always supportive to the passions of her children and husband and whether it was through good times or bad times, she was there to support them all.
In 1990, the family moved to the USA where they now call home and her passion was being with her loved ones or at the Senior Center in the last few years where she found many friends that made her happy and gave her a purpose. We will miss Liz greatly.
Liz was predeceased by her father Istvan in 1969, her mother Maria in 1996, and her two sisters in 2013/2014.
Liz is survived by her husband of 61 years Manuel, her son Javier Vidal and wife, their children (Nayla, Nicole (Nikki), and Natalie), her son Mauricio Vidal, her daughter Evelyn Vidal, husband Steve Aladics and grandson Nicholas (Nico).
There will be a funeral mass at St Ann Catholic Church on 7/31/23 at 11 am at 475 9th Ave S Naples, Florida 34102. .

I am so proud for everything my beautiful grandmother has accomplished: Not many can say they’ve escaped wars and started fresh in several countries. Apart from this, my grandma chose to pursue an education in one of those countries, start a loving family, and she never let the world around her change who she was. Regardless of her struggles, she’d always persevere & fight. She always stayed kind, loving, and sweet. Being a part of the family she created is a blessing, and although I wish I could’ve had more time with her, I treasure the moments we spent together. Abuela Liz will always stay alive in my heart, soul, and memory.
