Brenda Biberstine Finney, 74, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Naples, Florida.
Born on May 12, 1950, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Joegene
and Romanel (Reid) Biberstine. At a young age, her family moved to La Porte, Indiana, where she and
her siblings embraced the joys of growing up by Pine Lake.
Brenda was a proud graduate of La Porte High School, Class of 1968. She continued her education at
DePauw University, earning her undergraduate degree in 1972, and later pursued her MBA from the
University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1986.
On May 8, 1993, Brenda married the love of her life, Gerard J. “Gerry” Finney, in a beautiful ceremony at
the Sacred Heart Cathedral at Notre Dame. Together, they shared many cherished years filled with love,
laughter, and a deep appreciation for the arts and the Notre Dame community.
Brenda, Gerry and the Finney family spent their summers in Michigan and enjoyed the fun and activities
of 2 amazing lakes: Portage Lake and Lake Michigan. Brenda loved the Finney family traditions of
Thanksgiving and Christmas, spending a week or more with their large family.
Brenda was a woman of deep Christian faith, which was a guiding force throughout her life. One of her
greatest joys was traveling to the Holy Land, where she had a wonderful time experiencing the places she
had read about in Scripture. She also found great joy in spending time with her family and friends, sharing
laughter, stories, and memorable moments.
Brenda is survived by her sister, Elaine (Biberstine) Schiel, as well as her extended Biberstine and Finney
families, including Michael G. and Sherry Finney, Timothy S. and Sandy Finney, Molly M. and Jeff
Altenbern, Gerard J. II and Lucy Finney, Kathy Hays, Brigid Finney, and Maggie Dye, along with her
beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerry
Finney, her parents, Joegene and Romanel, and her brother, (William) Reid Biberstine.
She will be fondly remembered for her lifelong love of the arts, her unwavering devotion to Notre Dame,
the warmth of Southwest Florida, the beauty of Onekama, MI, her deep Christian faith, the happiness she
found in her years with Gerry and the cherished time she spent with her family and friends.
The Finney family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Naples Funeral Home for their
compassionate service. Brenda will be laid to rest this summer alongside her beloved husband, Gerry, at
Saint Joseph Cemetery in Onekama, Michigan.
