Allen “Al” Everman, age 88, a longtime Stewartville, MN area farmer, died on Saturday (January 27, 2024) of cancer, surrounded by his loving family, at his winter home in Naples, FL.

 

Allen Glen Everman was born on May 20, 1935, in Williams, IA to Tom and Edna Everman. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school in Williams, IA, and went to high school in Iowa Falls, IA graduating in 1953. From here, he went to college at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.  Allen was married on July 4, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Olwein, IA to JoAnn M. Farrington. Early on, they lived in many states within the Midwest where Allen had worked in construction as a lineman. In 1963, they nestled into the Everman Family Farm in Stewartville, MN and he began his long career as an electrician at Foster Electric. Over the years, they farmed, raised their family, and created countless memories on the farm. Following their retirement, they spent the past 27 winters enjoying their home in Naples, FL. Al loved spending time with his family and friends doing activities such as traveling, boating, hunting, and fishing. He frequently followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved spending as much time on water as possible both up North and down South. His fish frys were very popular! Allen was a longtime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Stewartville where he served the church as an usher, council member, and was a part of the building committee. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local 343) and  served as a treasurer with Rock Dell Twsp. Al was a longtime member of the Fisherman’s Club at his winter community in Naples, FL. and served as it’s president.

 

Allen is survived by his wife, JoAnn Everman, his daughter, Kristine (John) Sawka of Naples, FL, and his son, Scott (Brenda) Everman of Lakeville, MN as well as 10 grandchildren including Jodi, Kelly, Nicole, Danielle, Brittany, Jacob, Zoe, Adam, Collin, and Justin and 10 great grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother, Dale Everman of Naples, FL and his in-laws including Ron Payton, Mike & Elaine Farrington, Veronica & Tom Roth, Virginia & Harv Curry, and Dennis & Paula Farrington and many nieces & nephews. He is proceeded in death by his children; Kim Jo Everman-Mason, Allen Glen Everman Jr, Kelly Rae Everman, and his parents Thomas & Edna Everman, and 3 sisters Ruth Armstrong, Lila Rieks, and Helen Payton.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 10, 2024, at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Stewartville, MN with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A time of visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday (February 9, 2024) at St. Bernards Catholic Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
