Juan Francisco Ferreira, or Kiko as many of us affectionately call him, was born on June 16, 1953, in Santiago de los Caballeros. He spent his childhood in Los Almacigos, a section of the La Canela Municipal District.
From a young age, he showed a keen interest in agriculture and baseball. Kiko would go to his grandfather’s rice fields to scare birds. He didn’t do it because he was told to, but because he wanted to be useful and learn. He loved baseball, which he played with his brothers and friends. Kiko was an Aguilucho (eagle) since he was a child.
As a teenager, Kiko commuted to the city daily to go to school. Eventually, he and the rest of his family moved to Santiago de los Caballeros, where Kiko developed into an adult and entrepreneur.
In the 1970s, Kiko emigrated to the United States. It was in Florida where Kiko lived and developed as a professional. Kiko was successful in everything he did. Kiko had a visionary mind and an entrepreneurial approach, which he demonstrated in every business he developed.
He was a man of few words but eloquent, with a huge heart that was always there to help.
His focus was always on giving his best and being a good example. A serene man full of life, he was an exemplary father, devoted to the well-being of his daughters.
Kiko was a pioneer who left a positive impact on our lives. A tireless fearless warrior until the end, he left a legacy of greatness in this world shaped by his daughters Melissa, Jessica, Francheska, and Francina.
Kiko will always be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
“Success is not definitive, failure is not fatal; it’s the courage to continue that counts.”
