Fred Wass
November 12, 1932 – June 1, 2025
Fred Wass, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God, passed away peacefully after a life dedicated to faith, service, and the well-being of others. His greatest gift from God was 54 years of freedom from alcoholism, achieved one day at a time through the transformative power of the 12-step program.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; two children, Fred and Anne; and four cherished grandchildren, James, Hailey, Mia, and Isabella. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A man of deep spirituality, Fred dedicated his life to serving others. He served as the pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church in Miami, FL, and held roles as Clinical Director at the Palm Beach Institute in West Palm Beach, FL, and Director of the Church Counseling Center in Naples, FL. For a decade, he also served as Chaplain at Naples Community Hospital and Avow Hospice, offering comfort and guidance to those in need.
Fred’s passion for spirituality extended beyond his own faith, as he loved to study and explore the spiritual traditions of all religions. His academic achievements included two master’s degrees: one in theology from Louvain University in Belgium and another in mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Fred’s life at a memorial mass on Wednesday, June 11, at 11:00 AM, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Naples, FL. Please visit the following link to view the livestream

Fred was a dear friend and served as a volunteer chaplain at Naples Community Hospital. He was a man of faith, compassion, love and unselfish service to others. His gentle presence enabled peace in chaos, his faith inspired hope in despair and his ministry of presence provided comfort, peace and hope. Fred touch my life with his friendship and wisdom. He provided many educational didactics to the NCH Clinical Pastoral Education chaplain interns. Fred was an inspiration to me and to others. Rest in peace my friend.
