Norman Davis
In the care of
Naples Funeral Home & Cremation Services
Norm Davis, cherished husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully departed this world on August 6, 2025 in Naples, Florida, after a short battle with Parkinson’s. He was 82 years old.

Norman is survived by his wife, Yonné Davis; children, Norman Davis Jr., Carrie Leonardo (Anthony), Leslie Nicholson (Rob); eight grandchildren, Dora, Lynn, Vanessa, Leah, Marlee, Nicolas, Georgia and Sydney; one great grandchild, Hazel; brother Arthur Davis; cousin Richard Shannon; and step-daughter Kimberly Needham. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Johnson, and his parents, Grant and Ruth Davis.

Born on December 11, 1942, and raised in Dover, New Hampshire, Norm was a New Englander at heart, with an appreciation for the outdoors and outdoor recreation. His boyhood was spent being mischievous with his older brother Art, his younger sister Barbara and his younger cousin Richard. A short stay in Germany as a boy due to his father’s military service held a fond place in Norm’s memories.

Norm lived a life marked by kindness, lifelong learning and an unwavering love for his family and friends. Married to his beloved wife, Yonné, for 32 years, theirs was a partnership grounded in love, respect, and laughter. Norm delighted in young people throughout his life - raising three children alongside Sandy Davis (m. 1967-1993), and beaming with pride when hearing news of his grandchildren, or making them laugh when visiting with them.

Norm’s academic pursuits took him to Phillips Academy at Andover, MIT where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering ‘64 and Stanford Graduate School of Business ‘69. His business pursuits spanned different industries including picture frame moulding and residential construction. With strong Spanish skills, Norm’s enlisted in the Peace Corps in Ecuador after MIT. The experience affected him deeply.

A lifelong learner, Norm was a voracious reader and watcher of the news. Teaching science and math was a lifelong passion which Norm undertook with his own children, his grandchildren and countless high school students in Florida, who remember him fondly. His love for the subjects was not only apparent, but ran so deep that his children, grandchildren and tutees had running jokes with him about it. Norm was a proud owner of one of the first commercially available personal computers in the early 1980’s. As a math-y, he naturally came by his love for classical music, and sang in various choirs into his 70’s.

Enjoyment of the outdoors led Norm to ski, camp and hike in the White Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains, to paddle his well-loved canoe on any nearby river, to bicycle nearly every day in his retirement and to enjoy the sunset at Bonita Beach as often as possible.

Normally calm and graceful, Norm’s voice boomed when he regaled us with his favorite jokes, or stories of his time building and testing submarines with Electric Boat Company, of shenanigans that he and friends got up to at MIT, or recalling stories of his kids in their younger years.

Norm’s children deeply thank the staff at Naples Comprehensive Health North for their dedication in caring for Norman during the final weeks of his life. The family invites all whose lives were touched by Norm to share their thoughts below.
