Obituary for Mr. Robert Repper

Robert Repper, age 88, of Naples, Florida, passed away on December 4, 2017. He was born on November 22, 1929 in Wainwright, Missouri to the late George and Grace Repper. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.

His family recalls that Robert was a man of many talents. He was Salutatorian of his graduating class in 1947 at New Bloomfield High School in Missouri, and he skipped the ceremony to enlist in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from enlistment, he worked at the Kansas City Stockyard, driving cattle and being the resident horse whisperer. He was a member of Local 513 Operating Engineers operating heavy equipment and later he taught and eventually ran a school for apprentices of the Local 513 Operating Engineers. Robert always loved horses and kept a few on his farm before retiring to Florida.

On October 22, 1954, Robert married Ellen Wyrick, and the two were inseparable for the next sixty-two years. They loved to travel together. At last count, Robert said he and Ellen had visited over 37 countries. They loved to take cruises, too. When they visited their daughter in Naples, Florida, the two fell in love with the area and decided to make a move to the Sunshine State.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Robert also earned his Realtors license and worked in sales and estimations for Gastineau Log Homes. His family agrees that Robert never met a stranger. He had a dry wit that could get everyone laughing – everyone except Ellen, who had heard all of the stories before and met his humor with a wry smile. He was a generous man who loved his family very much.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; his son, William; and his siblings, Margaret Christian and George Vincent Repper.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Stillisano, Brenda Repper (Mike Wilson), and Robbin Otto (Dean); grandchildren, Lacey, Tanya, Stephanie, Nicole, Danielle, Joshua and Kyla; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Tom Repper (Sherry).

Memorial services for Robert Repper will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Veterans Administration or AVOW Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Boulevard, Naples, Florida 34104.
